NCQA Unveils New PPO Accreditation Program, HEDIS '01
The National Committee for Quality Assurance has released a draft of its long-awaited PPO accreditation program. NCQA plans to evaluate PPOs on such aspects as access to care, provider credentialing, consumer protections, and oversight of medical groups and others to whom the PPO delegates responsibility for care.
Member satisfaction will also be part of NCQA's review.
Meanwhile, NCQA released a draft of its year 2001 HEDIS program. A new measure reports percentage of members age 65 and older who receive pneumonia vaccines. NCQA also made administrative changes in HEDIS that it says should make it easier for plans when reporting on pre- and postnatal care measures.
