Employer-sponsored insurance coverage rates falling

The Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured reports that 61 percent of non-elderly Americans had employer-sponsored insurance in 2004, compared to 66 percent in 2000. Both adults and children experienced this decline, and if it were not for Medicaid and SCHIP, the number of children without health insurance would have increased commensurately. According to the report, the most of the growth in the uninsured between 2000 and 2005 was in low-income working families.
