Hospital-owned health plans grow


The 10 largest hospital-owned HMOs, in terms of enrollment, grew by one third from 1996 to 1997. Chicago-based Rush Prudential HMO, whose enrollment nearly doubled, emerged as the largest. In fact, Rush's enrollment by 1997 had more than quadrupled from the 78,000 it reported in 1995.
