Who pays salaried physicians best?

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Doctors working for a salary got a slightly better average pay increase last year (4.4 percent) than salaried employees in U.S. industry as a whole (4.2 percent), according to recently released survey results. Perhaps because of the "gatekeeper" duties many of them perform in managed care, primary care physicians were more highly paid by HMOs than by group practices, while the reverse was true of other physicians.
