Among specialties, family physicians' pay seems to weather managed care best

According to a recent study of AMA data, it now seems clear that managed care is having a depressing effect on the earnings of most physicians, including some in primary care. As of 1994, the latest year for which figures are available, only general and family physicians were bucking the downward trend, continuing to post increases in net income.
