The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld three suits filed against HMOs under Texas's right-to-sue law, based on assertions that the plans refused to cover medically necessary care. Two of the decisions reverse a federal court's finding of ERISA pre-emption.... A URAC survey indicates that while 74 percent of health care organizations can link claims and medical management data, only 33 percent can link claims and pharmacy data.... Drexel University College of Medicine, in Philadelphia, has appointed David J. Shulkin, MD, as chief quality officer. Shulkin founded Doctor Quality Inc.
