ACA Insurance Subsidies Through August Guaranteed

The federal subsidies that many insurers say they need if they are to continue offering plans on the ACA exchanges will continue at least through August, the Associated Press reports. President Trump threatened to cut off the subsidies—which he’s labeled bailouts—thereby forcing the repealing and replacement of the ACA that was one of the hallmark promises of his campaign.

Yesterday, the White House said it would make this month’s payments. The AP: “It’s estimated that nearly 18 million people purchase individual health insurance policies. About half of them pay the full cost themselves and would risk the biggest disruptions from a spike in premiums.”
