Gottlieb rejoining VC firm New Enterprise Associates

His role this time may be more 'substantive'

Former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb is rejoining New Enterprise Associates, a venture capital firm with $20 billion in investments, Axios reported this afternoon.

Soon after Axios scored the scoop, Twitter-savvy Gottlieb tweeted out a confirmation.

Gottlieb had spent about 10 years at NEA before he was appointed FDA commissioner, so this is a return trip for him. Axios reports that his role is expected to be more substantive this time around.

Gottlieb has also re-upped with the American Enterprise Institute as a resident scholar.

John Carroll at Endpoints News say that Gottlieb's star power " may well line him up with some of the bigger new players on the block"
