A sterile mobile devices cover is the first device-specific, FDA-compliant product that allows surgeons to safely bring mobile devices into sterile settings. The CleanCase cover, developed by a medical student from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, enables surgeons to have full mobile device functionality without compromising patient safety.
Surgeons bring mobile devices into the surgical field mainly to capture media for medical records and to use mobile medical applications.
Health-care mobile apps are developing at a rapid rate. Currently, they are helping to improve the delivery of health care in non-sterile settings. The CleanCase cover expands the use of these apps into sterile environments, meaning surgical patients can also reap their benefits.
The sterile cover uses a removable sleeve through which the mobile device is passed. When the device is secured in the case, the sleeve is removed, and the case is closed and ready for use. The hard plastic case has a touchscreen face and an unobstructed camera window, making the mobile device fully functional, protected, and easy to utilize, particularly through gloved hands.
