Since 2008, improvement seen in insurers’ claims response times

Providers complain about any number of things that irk them about insurers and health plans, but one of the biggest is how long it takes for claims to be paid. But the National Insurer Report Card says Cigna and Humana have cut their median claim response time in half over the last four years. Median response time for commercial health insurers varied from 6 to 15 days, according to the report card.
The National Insurer Report Card, launched in 2008 by the American Medical Association, reviews claim payments, claim processing errors, and median remittance response times.
