Of 300 physician groups and hospitals in major HMO markets surveyed about health plans' reporting instruments, doctors were slightly less charitable than hospitals toward HMOs; providers want more data from health plans to help them manage risk. Those asked say HMOs' internal processes also leave something to be desired.
